Sitting at the midpoint between the thirty-somethings and fifty-something, I so much appreciate your perspective and courage. Thank you for being here among us and for sharing your experience and wisdom. At middle age, we watch our parents and family elders age, suffer illness and ultimately die. Death shifts from a possible, but unlikely event to and inevitable passage - perhaps the most important we will navigate. The view and the stakes change. I would not go back either.

I really appreciate your writing, Dharmavrat, as you really sink your teeth into your heart and into subjects that many/all of us have experienced or just started to look at. This article and your honesty has really touched me, and I see that as we grow older chronologically and can look back, self-reflect, and marvel at the dream we have lived, the suffering we have chosen, and can now choose sadhana, kula and View -- and work torwards a beautiful death, as you say. I am so grateful for the grace of our dear Guru, the lineage, and the ability of students like you to really open up and contribute to the beauty and strength of our kula.
Jaya Gurudev!

This type of writing is so important and I thank Dharmavrat for writing it. The honesty and self refection it represents is exactly what Vac needs. I hope to see more individual Kula members' stories in Vac in the future. Jaya Guru Dev!

Fantastic post, Omkar. What a special opportunity to have shared with Guruji. We truly are fortunate for all that has gone before us, and in all that we now partake. Looking forward to getting back to Kailash Akhara!

Glad you enjoyed it.
Tara, thanks. I especially enjoyed this page with all the stats:
http://myfarmsf.com/why-choose-myfarm.html It helps to see that what appears to be so small (gardens) can have such an impact. Improving soil is key. In fact we have been using the Berkeley compost method http://vric.ucdavis.edu/pdf/compost_rapidcompost.pdf The relationship between Carbon and Nitrogen is the key to making this thing go. A carbon calculator will help. we ended up using about 7:1 sometimes with turkey manure, cow manure and another time with seaweed.
